Waking Dissapointed

This didn't end up
quite where I had expected
I sifted through the mess
salvaged what was left of it
now those memories
have turned into nightmares
I don't want to sleep
because I'm not really there
my smiles are disguises
to inquiring eyes
I'd rather not explain
what's happening inside
dreams decaying to ashes
I'm imprisoned in nostalgia
replaying the disasters
but visions are never actual
if only there were a way
I could just stay asleep
I wouldn't regret
it being only a dream
